James "Boweivel" Wimbish has not only been a steady "honorary" part of OCEAN 503 for years, but also has an extensive resume with a variety of groups, singers, shows and venues. Music has been a part of his whole family; his cousin Dwight "Popcorn" Miller played with Luther Vandross, Weather Report, Earth Wind &Fire and others for 15 years, and another cousin Lamont McLamore was an original member of the Fifth Dimension.

When James moved to Portland in 1998 from Reno, NV., his first musical experience here was with Mel Brown, ex- drummer for Diana Ross. He also played with Lloyd Jones Struggle & Ron Steen at the Pre-Mt. Hood Jazz Festival, and was the percussionist for "5 Guys Named Moe" for 3 years. Further players include singer/actor Cami Thompson, Frenz Group, husband and wife duet Kitti K & Moki Cavalo on the
casino Circuit. When he had his own groups called "Fresh" and "Serious Licks Band" they opened up for Boz Skaggs, Cold Blood & others and also backed up Wolfman Jack. Other locals include such as Patrick Lamb, Entouch and more.
Not only is James a super-charged, high energy percussionist, but also an accomplished drummer who will not allow you to sit still for one minute! Even he himself can‟t stop moving! If you never could dance before, you will - once James gets going with his jingles, thumps, whistles – and noises we can‟t even identify!
